I’m a big fan of blue and white decorating in the summer, so this year I’m back with patio arrangements. I ordered a new rug and had our sections assembled on it. Regular readers may recognize the furniture we set up on our Las Vegas patio in 2015, when we owned a property there.

I layered the space with new pillowcases sewn from outdoor fabrics I ordered online (see source below). A few years ago, I wrote a DIY tutorial on a pocket opening pillowcase and used the same simple sewing technique. I also added some more plants in the pots I bought. Many of these are considered houseplants, but despite the afternoon sun they do just fine outside because we hung fabric sails over the space to protect the plants and keep the space (and the house) cool.

Below are some snapshots of our outdoor space. I enjoy my morning coffee here and the occasional glass of white wine in the evening. My kids love it here too, especially when their friends come over and they want to hang out.

Outdoor fabrics for DIY pillows: Navy outdoor fabric / watercolor cloth

blue basket flower pot / Woven Tassel Pillow / Budget Blue Outdoor Rug

Outdoor 20×20” Patio Shades / white bench
